Character History
Novid Copperleaf grew up in the great city of Waterdeep, sent there to study illusion under the watchful eye of Nelgandus, an old mage who was less than a caring teacher. His work was hard and his lessons almost too much to handle at one time.
Novid, a half-elf, was left at the door of this old man, by parents that were obviously afraid that his half-elven heritage would not be welcome whereever they were. Novid was always grateful that Nelgandus had took him in, allowing him to escape the Home of the Lost, and to learn the Art of illusion.
Novid finished his studies, and decided to stay with the aging man for the remainder of his human years. Novid felt a great devotion to the old, grumpy wizard. He was, after all, the only "family" that Novid had.
After that, Novid planned to simply assume ownership of the small home and open up a shop preforming magic and cutting gems (a skill his mentor had passed to him at Novid's own request).
Alas, those plans were cut short by a visit from Nelgandus' old enimies, the Red Wizards of Thay. Novid used his magic to kill their foes, but the old mage, Novid's teacher, died in the battle, and his house burned to the ground, including Novid's papers that claimed his rightful ownership.
Many people heard of the news of the mage-battle, including a new adventuring group calling themselves The Blade. Arriving at the site, they asked Novid if he would join them in their quest that would take them to the east of Waterdeep. Novid, having nothing left, agreed.
The Soaring Blade helped Novid gain his vengence upon the red Wizards again and again, and Novid returned to his home of Waterdeep many times. He now has retired in that great city, and has the shop he had always planned to open.
