Aspects
Notes:
1 gem inventory is worth 2 Wealth
Novid owns a shop in the city of Waterdeep, where he buys and sells gems, all the while training his two apprentices in the art of illusion. At first, there would seem little for this shop owner to concern himself with, but there's more than enough to keep this shop owner busy.
Novid's Aspects work just like the Kingdom of Landergale, but they are diffrent in nature.
Profit
Novid must make a steady profit to keep his shop running smoothly and to afford his taxes, spell components, books, etc.
A high profit is always a good thing. A low profit can cause Novid to lose his shop!
Reputation
Novid wants his customers to keep coming back, and to do that he has to keep a good reputation. A high reputation increases profit, a low reputation decreases profit and has negatives on other situations as well.
Clout
Everyone doesn't want to be in the in crowd, but it's neccessary to be a big businessman in Waterdeep. With a high Clout, city officals are more likely to take Novid's side in arguments, and might allow a loe profit to slide for a while, being forgiving if a late tax payment is made. Those with a low Clout are usualy expected to make payments on time or their goods could be seized.
Inventory, Gems
Novid has to keep a good supply of jewels on hand if he expects to make a profit, so his inventory has to be replenished. The bad part is, this sometimes makes his profits go down until he can sell the current inventory.
Training
If Novid's apprentices are ever going to become real mages, he needs to have them training and studying on a constant basis. However, sometimes situations arise where it's neccessary to have one of his pupils stop training to help run his shop or make a trip to another city. Good students and teaching habits will increase Novid's Clout with the wizard's guild. A negative in this score could lead to his apprentices leaving or the guild turning their back on Novid completely!
Inventory, Magic
Novid also buys and sells magic items to select customers. His Inventory of magic items works the same way as his inventory of gems, but he stands to make a much higher profit (or loss) on these items.
Novid has Blackstaff the mage, his link to the Mage's guild, as his advisor, as well as Westor, the owner of the small Inn called the Falcon's Rest next to his shop who talks business with Novid (and who Novid knows keeps his mouth shut).
