King trimalon looked over his kingdom from a castle window that captured most of the village below in his sight. One of his mighty airships was landing from a recent trade to Vassa, and all had gone well. However, the trade had been expensive.
"My lord, Nelensathaus began, " Our coffers are within an acceptable level, but if we contniue the building of the ninth airship you desired and construction of the Great Pass, we will begin to see the "scrathed side of the coin", so to speak. The treasures from your adventures simply are not enough to maintain both projects. What do you wish to be done?"
--------------------------------
Nelensathaus..This is a intresting dilemma we have
before us. I have thought this problem through, and
for now I can only see one solution. If we build
another ship the kindoms supply problems will only
temporarily be brought under control. Unfortunately
airships can be grounded by bad weather, attacked by
people or creatures with Ill intent or for that matter
never work properly after being built. Then, where
would be be? But as for the Great Pass we would be
building on this Kingdoms future! Yes it will take
much time and hard work but I feel this is the best
choice in the long run. I truly believe that this
Kingdom can pull together for the Great pass. It's
outposts are things that all of us can work toward,
everyone will feel, in some way or another they have
contribuited to Its construction. Whereas the Flyings
ships may bring about different feelings. the people
may say "It is just another show piece of a wasteful
King." I will speak to Farsay on this matter for he is
a powerful Mage and maybe there is something he can do
to increase the ships speed or perhaps increase their
Holding Capabilites. Now Nelensathaus what are your
thoughts on this Matter?
------------------------------------------------
Farsay
This human mage is young, but powerful - he has defeated an ice dragon by himself. He seems wise beyond his few years. He is missing an eye, however, from his recent battle.
"My lord, I have little knowledge in building or modifying these airships. This is elven magic. Prehaps you could speak to the Ice Elves and see if they can create more powerful vessels."
Nelensathaus (Nell - in - say - thus)
This human is aged and knows everything about the Ice Kingdom, making it his business to keep up with trade, the supplies, money, etc. He often reports to the king and his words carry heavy weight.
"The decision is yours, of course, my Lord. In the long run, the Great Pass will increase trade. I hope we don't have as many problems as we have in the past."

Nelensathaus (Nell - in - say - thus):
"Our supplies should be enough to survive a storm, my lord, but afterward we would need to concentrate on rebuilding them, and less in other areas of concern. However, Damara has had a shotage of grains, as we have, the last season; if Vassa trades grains to Damara before we can there may be little food left for us to have from Vassa, our prime food traders, this season. But the risk of losing an airship in the storm is very real."
Farsay:
"I know little of the exact supply of goods in the kingdom, my lord."
Will Trimalon send one ship out to brave the storm? There is a 50/50 chance of losing a ship in the weather, and a 50/50 chance of losing major supplies if it does not try to go through the storm.
--------------------
It seems to me that we should not risk losing the
ship. If it is lost not only have we lost the ship,
but supplies as well. Lets ground the ships when the
time has come. From here on out, have all members of
my castle be advised that we should set a example for
the people on the food we eat. From Now until the the
storm passes we shall eat what the common people eat,
no special functions will be held. Prepare all

Ice groths, huge creatures that are similar to a cross between a human and an ice troll, have been spotted to the south. there seem to be quite a number of them according to your scouts that have braved the weather. Prehaps 50 or so in a tight group. They normally are spotted in much smaller numbers.

Farsay let me speak to the diplomat from Vassa. I
don't know if it will help, but if he understands our
plight maybe then he will see why the ships didn't
make the Journey. And make sure that he understands

Terrible news, my lord. the city of New Vassa was decimated during the time of the recent storm, and inhuman monsters have taken over the area. I'm afraid there is no one left there to trade with!
Nelensaythaus:
"Vassa was the name for years of the unclaimed waste and wild lands beyond the northern bounds of Damaran patrols, in much the same way that the land of Thar begins where the claim of boarders for the inner cities end. It remains a cold and unpleasant land.
Fourty years ago, the Witch-King arose and took over the entire area, and invaded Damara. Gareth Dragonsbane and a handful of adventurers went to the Witch-king's castle, entered a Gate to another dimension there, and killed Orcus, destroying the Witch-king's power once and for all. Garath left Vassa to it's own destiny, and rebuilt Damara, although he has never officily taken the crown of that nation. To protect his kingdom, he built the famous Bloodstone Pass, two great gates that keep the forces of vassa from entering Damara ever again.
Those that wished to stay in vassa built the fortress city of New Vassa, the same city that has now been destroyed in some kind of attack.
Dragon's have nested in the Witch-King's ruined fortress, and reports have surfaced of a wild-eyed priest who is seeking to unite the non-human tribes under his own banner. He calls himself the Son of the Witch-King."
"I suppose this means that we will have to trade with Damara. Although the trip is a little farther, Damara is rich with food supplies and Bloodstones (which can be traded to the west, in waterdeep, for a high prices when the market is right). That is, unless you wish to trade with Ulfest. Damra as a trade agent will take some time to negotiate."

"Narfell is a kingdom of 20 various tribes of horsemen. They mostly trade with the Horde that lives east of them, the same Horde that recently tried to westward and invade Cormyr. Thank goodness they were unsuccessful. I do not think the tribes would have much to offer us, although we do trade with them for bows, arrows and shields. What we need right now, however, is food."

DM: Vassa has always been more of a tribal kingdom and a wild land than an area of civilized skills. the people there are good at hunting, working the land, and are keen with weapons. However, in the land of Trimalon, this would do them little good outside the kingdom's warmth. Most of Vassa's people have never been subjected to such cold weather before.

Farsey advise the remaining citizens of Vassa that
they will be welcome to be citizens of our city or we
will give them passage to any surrounding city of
their choice.
All of the former citizens of New Vassa accept the king's proposal. However, only 2 of the five elect to stay in the kingdom. The others wish to travel to Damara.
I think it is time I visited Gareth
Drangonsbane, not only will this help bond a alliance
with his kingdom, it may be needed in the near Future.
I wish to see what he knows and thinks of the new
ruler of Vassa. King Trimalon will contact his
Ambassador in Damara to see if he will see him.
See below for the resolution of this decision.
( Scott what means will I contact my ambassador in
Damara? and do we currently have any Ice elves
training with us?)
You would use your mage to contact your ambassador, and speak through his magic. King Trimalon hires the ice elves to build hid Air Ships, but they do not fight in his militia. The kingdom is on good terms with the ice elves, however, and the king might be able to call upon them as friends if they were needed.
----------------
King Trimalon observed as his mage, Farsay, made a long motion across the pool of water before him. The pool of speaking was often used by Trimalon to speak with his ambassadors, but the king tried to limit his communication. The spell was long for Farsay to memorize.
"It is ready, my king." Farsay said in a light tone, obviously concentrating on the spell. An image of an older human, slightly overweight but in a rugged way, came into view. He wore a robe made of animal fur, and wore a ring with a nice-sized bloodstone gem in it. He was balding, but the hair that remained was long and braided. Green eyes brightened at the sight of his king. This was Lamon, Trimalon's ambassador to Damara.
"Yes, my king, everything is in order, and King Dragonsbane is anticipating your arrival soon, barring any bad weather conditions. However, you will be expected, by ettiquette, to bring a gift of some type."
DM: What type of gift will Trimalon purchase/make for the king, and how much will you spend on the gift? Are there any other special arrangements that Trimalon will make before he leaves to visit with the king of Damara?

The King will now wait to speak to the former diplomat
from Farsey before he takes his Journey. Before he
breaks the connection with Lamon, King Trimalon will
ask Lamon does he have any suggestions? The King is
looking for anything Our Kingdom has in abudance. I
know of our gardens have some very rare plant species
that do not grow in this area and some might contain
some ingredients that they can find useful. The people
who want to go to Darma can travel with me. I will
make known before I leave who I will place in charge.
"Sire, I think that the proper gift would be something that can only be found in your own kingdom, and the plants you mentioned are an excellent idea. Rare flowers are probably something king Dragonsbane has a rare chance to enjoy. Of course, jewels are often seen as noble gifts, although I understand our kingdom is... currently underbudget."
Nelensaythaus would be in charge of day-to-day affairs while the king is away, and Farsay, an excellent strategist, command the movements of the armies if need be.
-------------------------
The King decides to take a walk through the gatden in
the morning, and speak to the various caretakers to
see what would be a good choice, he also likes to
speak to the workers to get a feel of how things are
going on around him. I agree Scott Nelensaythaus
should be in cahrge of the day to day affairs of the
Castle while Farsey be in charge of the Armies. And
Windo will advise them as such. "Scott when the Former
diplomat from Vassa arrives I wish to speak to him
about the the city of vassa itself plus how good of a
spokesperson he can be, I might be able to use him.
"I understand that you never actually visited New Vassa, King Trimalon, and that is very understandable, considering how busy you are here," said Kal Oratan, the once-ambassador of New Vassa. "The city was growing, but had little defenses except for simple warriors. It had no walls or fortifications at the time of the attack by the Son of the Witch King. We had about 200 lightly armored men, who were quickly destroyed by the magic of the priest and the numbers of the goblinoids under his command. I'm not sure about the number that he commanded, but there were many more than us!"
DM: Windo considers the diplomat very well spoken.
------------------------------------
Window had gathered together a gift of rare plants for Garath Dragonsbane. Red Relanara had healing properties, and would grow easily in the colder climates of Damara. Cheltnta was another plant, not native to the Realms, that possessed the ability to subdue poisons in the body. While it was harder to grow, the effort proved worthwile to those in need. Many of the other plants were decorative in nature, but were so rare that they would be considered valued gifts. Trimalon hoped his gift would impress the king.
The workers about the kingdom seemed to be doing well, but Window's reports said otherwise. Hidden among the common people were a few people that the king used as informants. They were not really spies, just people who would report back in to the king and tell him the honest opinion of his people about his kingdom and how they felt about being there. Sometimes Farsay disguised himself with magic to do this, while on rare occasion the king himself was disguised by magic and walked the kingdom's streets.
Although the people of the kingdom were happy enough, they were slightly irritated at the loss of supplies from the recent storm. New supplies were coming from the east, however, and Trimalon expected things to return to normal, barring any new developments.
---------------------------------
King Trimalon walked from the ship with full majestic dress. His personal guard came with him, as well as Farsay's apprentice, Gesar, a very young human mage with suprising magical skill. Together, they were led into King Dragonsbane's audience hall, where the king sat upon his throne.
Window had heard the tales of the mighty paladin delivering the killing blow to Orcus the devil on his own plane, and the battles he had had with various other demons and monsters along the way. The man was a legend.
Before Windoe sat a human that was hard to beleive was Dragonsbane. Time had caught the man, and he was much older than Window had imagined. His hair and large moustache, once dark, were silver and thin. His skin was still dark in shade but was obviously more withered than when he adventured with his company long ago.
"King Trimalon, well met! I have waited for some time for our meeting. You have business you wish to discuss with me?"
------------------------------
Windoe will determine what he will offer Kal Oratan
after he returns from meeting with Garath.
King Trimalon bows slightly before Garath Dragonsbane.
"Well met Garath, slayer of Orcus and ruler of Damara,
I do hope you and your people can benefit from the
gifts I have brought you." replies the King. "I have a
heard a great many stories of your adventures over the
years, and that's what brings me before you today."
"Garath, if I may?" states Windoe. I have heard many
times about your defeat of The Witch who once ruled
Vassa, and then of Orcus, As you may have heard by now
Vassa has fallen to someone calling himself "The Son
of the Witch Queen" I have spoken to the remaining
people from Vassa and sadly, from the looks of it, they
never had a chance." I wonder what you have heard of
this situation because his motives do worry me as it
should you!" I felt I it was past due for a meeting
between our kingdoms, I feel we must form a strong
alliance between our two kingdoms, to protect our good
people from those who wish to do us harm!"

The people of Vassa have been weakened greatly since the time of the Bloodstone Wars, and even a minor force would pose a threat to them. I am sorry about their fate, but Damara did offer them protection in Damara that they refused. The high council does not think the Son of the Witch King to be of great threat at this time, and let me assure you that we are also doing everything possible to make sure that does not happen. "I speak for my official council when I reply to your offer for an alliance. You see, I have never accepted rulership of Damara, for it is the people who should rule a kingdom, and not one man. I act as a voice to my people at their request, and nothing more."
Windo had heard of Garath's refusal to take a crown in his own name. The people of Damara had pressured garath to take the throne for years, but he was steadfast in his refusal.
"I appreciate the fine gifts you have offered our kingdom. However, an official alliance with Trimalon would not be in this kingdom's best interest at this time. Your kingdom is far away from ours and remote at best. An offical alliance may require aid that would be exteremely expensive for us to provide, and we would also be compelled to trade with your kingdom first, which could offend our neighbors."
"Politics aside, I hope that your kingdom and this one can be of service to one another. You have access to a remote area that can be used in time of need as a possible escape for the people of Damara, and we have greater supplies that you require. Our forces could possibly be used to suprise a foe if need be. I will speak to the council on your behalf, and suggest that we offer you better prices on supplies in the future."
"Now that this meeting is over, I offer you a chance to dine with me. I have wanted to hear of your kingdom in the Great Glaicer. Prehaps we could take one of your vessels to Bloodstone Pass where I could show you where the mighty battle against The Witch King took place and tell you the tale."

Windo looked over the ships edge, looking down onto the mountains below, the East Gelena Mountains. They were north of Damara, and far away from Heliogabalus (the capitol of Damara, often called Dragonbane City, although Garath would never approve such a thing as official).
The air was bitterly cold and blasted into his face and long reddish-brown hair, but Windo did not mind. The view was incredible. Windo's ice-elven airships were very agile, and could fly lower than other vessels that used magic to soar through the air. Massive objects could be easily avoided - objects that would destroy other Spelljammers (although Windo used the term lightly; his own airships could not break free of the world like true Spelljamming ships).
As they passed one cliff edge, they saw a Remorhaz, a huge ice worm that were known to swallow men whole. They were incredibly dangerous, with underbellies so hot that they could melt blades on contact.
Garath spoke (yelling due to the wind) now and again, but had been quiet often too, obviously taken aback by being inside a flying ship. "Yes, I bet you have Remorhaz in your home too? Of course! They love the cold for ones so gifted with heat. Did you know that the monks of The Monastary of the Yellow Rose ride on the backs of wild Remorhaz as their final test of their skills to leave the monastary? I call it insane!"
The ship sailed on, over the mountains, until they reached Bloodstone Pass, the only area an army could possibly come through the mountains without suffering heavy casualties due to terrain, mosters, and the weather. Here Gareth had constucted two great walls that were as high as any castle Windo had ever seen, and a set of gates that opened, from Damara's side, to allow passage. Even more amazing was the fact that the gates and the walls were made of solid iron, much more than could have been mined from an entire mountain. It must be the largest construction in the Realms, Windo thought.
"Here are the gates of Bloodstone Pass, Windo! Damara had the gates under construction as the Witch King attacked our kingdom. Here was fought the Battle of Bloodstone Pass, one of the greatest battles seen in our time. It was here that we defeated the Witch King and his armies. We later traveled to Vassa and to the castle of the Witch King, where we entered his portal to the hells and defeated Orcus himself."
"Amazing!" It was all King Trimalon could say. There were no words to describe the sight. This was history he was looking at.
"No doubt your kingdom, hidden in a magical glaicer, is just as impressive!" the king shouted with a laugh, "The gates do tend to humble a man, though. It is only throguh the blessings of Dionisus that they were completed."
With that, the ship sailed back into the clouds, to bring the king and his men back to Dragonsbane City.
DM NOTE: Donisus is not worshipped as a god of pleasure and wine in the realms (as presented in Legends and Lore); instead, he is a god that promotes law and order, but at the same time fun and taking happiness in doing good things. His followers are the opposite of the sterotypical serious battle-worn paladin; instead, they are almost always ina good mood, although they take their job of hunting down and defeating evil very seriously. In other words, they are only angered and serious when they must be, and the rest of the time look at their blessings over their burdens.
---------------------
Trimalon flew over the ice below with relaxed speed, the airship lifting carefully over each gust of wind. The huge, butterfly-shaped vessel looked like a gigantic, fragile animal, but the king knew it's defenses were to be reckoned with.
Window took the Staff of the Fourth King in his hand. He felt it's magic soar through his body. The artifact was powerful, and lent him some of it's own strength. Suddenly, the staff gave him an omen, as it sometijmes did, sending him to his knees.
Great snakes, colored white, breathed cold upon a crown, freezing it. Orcus the devil reached up from the darkness and crushed the crown, causing the pecies to blacked and fall into his mouth. He breathed the pecies back out, now in flames shaped as goblins, orcs, and other monsters, and they engulfed the world with their flaming bodies.

Unfortunatly, the armies of Trimalon were devestated in the battle against the goddess Auril. However, the younger men are training hard to become new soilders, and there have been several supply runs that have returned from other parts of the realms with soilders-for-hire. Trimalon's generals have made every effort to weed out any "bad apples", and are currently experienceing no problems with the new warriors. In fact, many of the men are requesting permanent posts in Trimalon.

King Trimalon sighed at the sight of his kingdom. Although the outer shell of the glaicer remained intact, the kingdom within, created by the powerful artifact known as the Amber Crystal, was heavily damaged. It would take quite some time to rebuild. Still, relations with the Ice Elves and the Tundra Druids had seen a large increase. Trimalon's possible allies, if needed, had grown.
Gold needed for food and supplies for the rebuilding of Trimalon Kingdom would be taken care of by the horde of the dragon Flamekiller. Hired men were taking the posts of many of Trimalon's soilders, and a large number of them were requesting to stay in the hidden land. It would not take as long as expected for the kingdom to return to normal, Trimalon thought.
Still, the king hated that construction of the Great Pass would have to wait. Work on that trade and travel route would have to continue later.
As he pondered this, king Trimalon's personal assistant, Nelensathaus, came to his side. "King Trimalon, I have news. Damara has heard of your battles against The Son of the Witch King and his allies, and has offered to accept your former offer of an official alliance in gratitude. They send word that they are dismayed that they did not know of the dangers you had faced, and assure you that they would have come to your side if they had. They offer you a gift to seal the alliance. They will either pay for two new iceships to be constructed, or they will send a large amount of men and architects to help speed the repairs to the kingdom. However, they cannot afford to pay for both. they leave the choice up to you, if you should accept the alliance."
Does the king accept, and if so, which offer will he take (rebuliding of the ships or speeding the repairs?)
Farsay
This human mage is young, but powerful - he has defeated an ice dragon by himself. He seems wise beyond his few years. He is missing an eye, however, from his recent battle.
"I suggest that we accpet the alliance and the men for the repairs, my king."
Nelensathaus (Nell - in - say - thus)
This human is aged and knows everything about the Ice Kingdom, making it his business to keep up with trade, the supplies, money, etc. He often reports to the king and his words carry heavy weight.
"More men would help, but I suggest we accept the rebuilding of the airships. After all, we do not need to appear that we require outside help. It could be seen as a sign of weakness in the kingdom."
The King pondered on this a moment, and said
questioningly, "Nelensathaus, advise your contacts in
Damara that we gladly will accept their offer of
alliance, but as for the ships and men ask them for
for a part of both. Only one ship and and a only a few
builders to accompany the ship. This would work good
to our advantage. If something was to happen in Damara
in the following weeks It would be hard to explain to
the ruling Nobels in the kingdom why we would send
help to their country, when they at the time sent us
none. With even only one ship it would help us
increase our ability to transport more food and
supplies but even with only a few men it will not take
us long to re-build." " If the weather was to turn bad
in the following weeks hungry workers will not buiild
or work as well" " "My friends, how does this sound to
you?"
"Nelensathaus", replied the King, if possible speak
with Damaras officals and see if they they will send
us only one ship and a smaller number of men. We need
the manpower to re-build the city, but if a storm hits
we could have hundreds of men working but everyone
would starve. This way we relieve a little of both
burdans without depleating Damara of to much of it's
resources. And for the people it shows as a sign of
goodwill from Damara that they sent both men and a
ship. As for the Dragons lair, have all entrences to
it sealed for the time being and guards posted. There
are many dangers in the dungeon and only with proper
measures taken shall anyone venture forth.

Farsay:
"My Lord, receiving one ship and men as well was an excellent idea, and Damara has agreed. Garath Dragonsbane has sent enough gems to pay for the ice elves to build your new ship."
"However, a new problem has risen that I think you should be aware of. We estimate that the repairs to the city will nearly equal the dragon's treasure we found in the lower caverns. However, our scouts were, er, "visited" by two white dragons called Quesper and Talkis, a female and a male. The dragons are mating, apparently, somewhere near the kingdom. The "couple" claim that they are entiled to the treasure of Flamekiller, as a large part of it was stolen from Talkis in past times. However, he only wishes enough treasure to make a suitable nest for his young, and will accept 10% of the coins."
"I wondered how he could know just how much treasure there was, but before I could even ask, my scouts informed me that he had claimed to have sent in a mage at one point to Flamekiller's lair, not to steal, but to spy and gather information. After hearing how large Flamekiller had become, Talkis decided not to venture fourth after his lost treasure, but still gained a fairly accurate count of the gold. The estimate that he gave my scouts was only about 500 gold pecies off the mark.."
"The dragons have made no attack upon our men, and in fact had their manners about them during the encounter. They have made no threats to the kingdom. However, both of the dragons are full grown adults, and are quite powerful. If we should have to do battle with them, they could cause much destruction, and we cannot afford to lose more men than we have already. The general townfolk no nothing of the encounter with the dragons, and I have instructed the scouts to keep this between us."
"My King, what should we do?"
"Damn Dragons!", "Would they even consider doing the
same for us if one of our men died at their hands? I
think not! This is to be expected of Dragons of their
kind. I would not think twice of doing it with other
Dragons, but White Dragons are not to be trusted.
Talkis very well could have known about FlameKiller
and was waiting for the right moment to step in. He
probably did not think we would be the ones to kill
him. Strange is it not that the Dragons would keep
their manners about them? But maybe not so strange
that they have to take this course of Action knowing
that one of the most Powerful Dragons in the very
Realm itself is Dead underneath my very castle walls.
Farsey, I will speak to the Dragons myself please
arrange a meeting with them. I wish to hear their
story myself. IF I do decide to agree with their
request..It will not come without a Price."
Farsey, advise them I shall meet with them in a few
days. Tell them my Kingdom is in Dire need of repair
and as soon as we get a good start on the repairs I
will speak with them. Now I must see if we can finish
a project that I have in Mind...
DM: What project would that be?
Taking a portion of the set of dragon scales that my
kingdom received and making a suit of armour for
me...to wear at my meeting with the white dragon.
