Romero is a well respected figure among starfleet, and has commanded many successful missions in and out of hostile situations. However, he has always preferred a small crew and to give credit to others, or ignore it altogether. Therefore, he has never really acheived much fame, although he has climbed the starfleet ladder of promotion quite successfully.
While not a true pacifist, Romero always resorts to violence as a last option. He expects his officers to do the same.
